In September 2025, a new LOCTRAC ZW 222 work and assembly vehicle was handed over to Furrer+Frey Deutschland GmbH at the ZWEIWEG site in Leichlingen. The vehicle is already in successful use and expands the existing road-rail fleet of the specialist for catenary and traction power systems.
Furrer+Frey Germany is part of the Swiss Furrer+Frey Group and is one of the leading companies in the field of railway infrastructure and catenary construction. Its core competencies include the planning, new construction, conversion and maintenance of overhead line systems and conductor rails for railway and public transport systems.
Tailor-made solution for BOStrab use
The LOCTRAC ZW 222 work and assembly vehicle with SSB equipment, built by ZWEIWEG, was specially designed for flexible use on BOStrab tracks in Germany. Thanks to its convertible, hydrostatic rail drive system, the vehicle is suitable for track gauges from 1000 to 1458 mm and can be used both on the road and on the rail.
The base vehicle is a Mercedes-Benz Arocs 1833, which has been extensively modified by ZWEIWEG. This includes a narrower design on the front and rear axles as well as extensive chassis and body modifications for safe rail operation.
