New aerial work platform for the electricity supply in Zwickau

Following the successful handover of the vehicle and training session, Zwickauer Energieversorgung GmbH has put a new aerial work platform vehicle, specially designed for energy sector applications, into service. The project was carried out by ZAGRO at its Leipzig site.

The vehicle replaces an ageing predecessor model – also a Multicar with an aerial work platform – and represents a targeted replacement purchase. The aim was to combine tried-and-tested technology with a modern design, whilst further improving occupational safety, reliability and operational flexibility.

Area of operation: Electricity supply in the Zwickau urban area
The new aerial work platform will be used in future for maintenance, repair and fault-finding operations on the electricity grid in the city of Zwickau. Thanks to its compact dimensions, it is particularly well-suited to inner-city areas with limited space.

Vehicle and platform concept
The vehicle is based on a Multicar M31 fitted with an HM 16TK aerial work platform, which is specifically designed for work on electrical infrastructure.

Key technical data:
•    Max. working height: 16.40 m (at full basket load)
•    Lateral reach: up to 11.00 m
•    Work basket load capacity: 250 kg
•    Swivel range: 450°, basket rotation 2 × 90°
•    Hydraulically extendable telescopic mast with movable basket arm
•    Four hydraulic outriggers with minimal protrusion from the vehicle profile

Safety and operating concept:
•    Insulation up to 1000 V / DC 1500 V in accordance with DIN VDE 0682-742
•    Proportional control via joysticks
•    Operation from both the work basket and the ground
•    Emergency control, hand pump and automatic transport position (home function)
•    CE individual type approval in accordance with DIN EN 280 and approval in accordance with the StVZO

From the customer’s perspective, the solution was particularly appealing due to its compact dimensions, a tried-and-tested technical design, high reliability and the availability of after-sales support at the Leipzig site.

The project exemplifies ZAGRO expertise in the field of aerial work platforms for road vehicles – customised for municipal energy suppliers and their specific requirements.
