ZAGRO E-MAXI XXL electric shunting vehicle for SNCF

With the ZAGRO E-MAXI XXL electric shunting vehicle, ZAGRO Bahn- und Baumaschinen GmbH has delivered a powerful, emission-free shunting vehicle to SNCF. The vehicle is used in a maintenance workshop for high-speed trains belonging to the French national railway company SNCF in Bischheim – both in the hall and on the adjacent factory tracks.

From diesel to electric: noticeable improvement in everyday work

Until now, TGV high-speed trains in this area were moved using a diesel shunting locomotive. The switch to the ZAGRO E-MAXI XXL brings significant advantages for staff: less noise, no exhaust emissions and an overall improved working environment.

Efficiency gains in special testing processes

A particular added value can be seen in a compression test between TGV carriages. Thanks to the tyre-on-rail drive, high thrust is immediately available when starting. The test can now be carried out in around one minute – previously, this process sometimes took more than ten minutes.

Powerful and flexible

The ZAGRO E-MAXI XXL used is designed for trailer loads of up to 2000 tonnes, has a continuously variable electric drive and can be used both on rails and on roads. In addition, users benefit from a simpler qualification process compared to the classic locomotive driver's licence.

The commissioning, servicing and maintenance of the vehicle are carried out by the local ZAGRO dealer LEMONNIER SAS.
