CAF, Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles, S.A., as the supplier of the new trams for Canberra City in Australia, had decided to procure a ZAGRO road/rail vehicle Unimog U 423. The vehicle will be supplied for the operation at the depot of Metro Canberra.
Supported by our partner, GMEINDER LOKOMOTIVEN GmbH, ZAGRO has equipped the Unimog as a rescue car for infrastructure maintenance and rescue of units. The customer can alternate between two configurations: the body box with rerailing equipment, or the scissor lift platform for maintenance work.
The rerailing vehicle can transferre a derailed rail vehicles back into the track safely and with precision. The Unimog with ZAGRO track guiding equipment can tow the broken down tram back to the depot, so that the track can be returned to use. The guidance bogie systems allow the operation on rails of max. 17 m curve radius as requested especially by urban rail systems.
