The major contract includes the construction and manufacturing of 73 road/rail Unimog U 423 in six different types of configuration. Nineteen road/rail vehicles have already arrived in Japan, and further vehicles will be delivered within this year and early 2020. The powerful vehicles are used in the construction of the famous Japanese Shinkansen high-speed line.
In addition to the shunting vehicles, the Japanese railway company receives working vehicles as well. The shunters are designed for either single or tandem operation. Depending on their specific design, the working vehicles are equipped with a loading platform, lifting platform for two persons, loading crane or heavy-duty crane. The heavy-duty crane is mounted on a three-axle Unimog basic truck. All vehicle types can also be operated from the rotatable front passenger seat.
