ZAGRO E-MAXI XL in operation in the Climatic Wind Tunnel Vienna

The company RTA Rail Tec Arsenal Fahrzeugversuchsanlage GmbH happily received its new 15-ton E-MAXI XL electric shunter. The road rail vehicle equipped with a wagon brake system is used there as a shunting tractor to push the rail-bound vehicles into the test facility.

The ZAGRO tractor is implemented with a wide range of coupling systems so that the shunting work of different rail vehicles runs smoothly. Its radio remote control ensures an intuitive operation. In addition, the electric shunter is equipped with a cable drum so that the batteries can be charged comfortably over a greater distance from the socket. Furthermore, a compressed air connection for the use of external tools is adopted on the vehicle.

The tractor is equipped with a covered standing area for the operator. This weather protection ensures better working conditions, especially in snow and rain.

The RTA operates internationally as an independent research and test institute. As the operator of the Climatic Wind Tunnel Vienna, the company offers the opportunity to investigate weather influences on vehicles and components. Among other things, rail and road vehicles, technical devices and products of the aviation industry are exposed to the most adverse weather conditions. In the world's largest climatic wind tunnel, temperatures from minus 45 degrees to plus 60 degrees and wind speeds up to 300 km/h can be generated. This simulates heat, rain, snow or ice.
