The Swiss railroad network has a length of over 5500 km and is one of the densest in the world in relation to the area of the country. The main gauges used are the standard gauge of 1435 mm and the narrow gauge of 1000 mm. The latter accounts for almost a quarter of the entire network.
The Rhätische Bahn (RhB) is one of the "largest" railroad companies and infrastructure managers in Switzerland with a narrow-gauge network. This network extends over a length of 384 kilometers.
To ensure that the rolling stock of the Rhätische Bahn (RhB) can be always kept in top condition, ZAGRO Bahn- und Baumaschinen GmbH, in cooperation with Tafag AG as the Swiss general representative, delivered another battery-driven shunting vehicle of the ZAGRO E-MAXI M series for the Landquart site. The emission-free electric shunter with a track gauge of 1000 mm is ideally suited for shunting activities in the depot and workshops. The fleet of ZAGRO shunters at the RhB has thus now increased to the proud number of four units.
Thanks to their compact dimensions and the all-wheel steering fitted as standard, the ZAGRO E-MAXI vehicles are very manoeuvrable and can also negotiate tight curves without any problems. The electric shunters also prove to be very practical helpers in everyday work and are easy to operate via the installed radio remote control. Flexibility is the top priority, because the possibility of changing tracks over paved ground and subsequent on-railing on level ground saves a lot of time and some empty runs over switches.
The teams of ZAGRO as well as Tafag AG are proud to make an important contribution to a safe and simplified workflow and to facilitate the work of the personnel of the Rhätische Bahn.
