Road/rail Unimog U 423 at the Port of Königs Wusterhausen

The ZAGRO road/rail vehicle Unimog U 423 shunts heavy goods wagons at the Port of Königs Wusterhausen, around 40 km from the center of Berlin. The port operator LUTRA GmbH has brought flexible and powerful support on board. The special feature of the port's trimodal orientation - road, rail and sea - offers the industrial companies located there attractive location options. A new track was put into operation in fall 2023.

The Port of Königs Wusterhausen is very busy. Every day, goods are loaded and handled in two shifts. In addition to the handling of scrap, grain and building materials, container movements play a central role. At least two barges dock here every day. In addition, freight trains have to be loaded and unloaded on schedule.

Whether on road or rail, the Unimog U 423 with ZAGRO rail guidance and radio remote control ensures safe and reliable operation. With the road/rail vehicle, shunting work can be carried out smoothly on the ten kilometers of railroad tracks. The vehicle is designed for a rail gauge of 1435 mm and is approved for use on railway lines in accordance with § 32 EBO. The new road-railer Unimog replaces a predecessor model U 1650 from 1998, which was only recently manoeuvred onto the siding – into well-deserved retirement.
