Special vehicles and working locomotives

For local transport companies (underground, suburban trains, or trams), the boundary conditions are very individual. In addition to the vehicles for passenger transport, locomotives or special vehicles are required for the construction and maintenance of the infrastructure or for towing broken trains.

The locomotives must be adapted to the specific requirements and admission criteria of the respective transport companies in terms of track width, boundary profile, coupling, train protection and power supply.

Vehicle concepts with different axle sequences and cab arrangements are implemented according to customer requirements.

Energy sources include overhead lines, conductor rails, diesel engines or accumulators. Multi-system vehicles with combinations of energy sources can also be realized.

The power transmission of the vehicles can be either hydrodynamic, hydrostatic, or electric.

AL45 BB Multi-system locomotive

The AL45 BB is a robust working locomotive, its distinguishing feature is the high tractive force at low tare weight. This allows the multiple application for the speci¬fic needs of transport companies, as they are reliant on a light construction due to their network structure with bridges and elevated rail lines. The modern locomotive control system ensures its regulated slow movement (2 to 10 km/h). The electric power transmission by four independently controlled drive motors leads to the optimum use of the adhesion and simultaneously the utilisation of different energy sources like battery and power rail.
